Close to the original
The P-85 has an amazingly realistic sound quality usually only found in more expensive models. It features an array of commonly used sounds such as grand pianos, electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, vibraphones, and strings. Using Yamaha’s own AWM stereo sampling, the sounds were recorded directly from a variety of instruments. Each voice is recorded in stereo, and thus faithfully replicates the sound and warmth of the original instrument. And thanks to the 64-voice tone generator the P-85 won't run out of sound even in passages with heavy pedaling.

Graded Hammer Standard keyboard
Responsive piano action is at your fingertips with the Graded Hammer Standard keyboard. Yamaha’s GHS keyboard recreates the feel of a grand piano. This allows you seamless transition from digital practice to acoustic performance. The P-85 not only duplicates the sound of a real piano, it emulates the feel and action as well.

Half (continuous) pedaling capability
Rather than simply switching sustain ON or OFF, the P-85 responds to 127 levels of pedal depth. This allows for a more authentic piano performance by emulating the fluid control a pianist has over the damper pedal. All you need is either the Yamaha sustain pedal FC-3 (optional) or the pedal unit LP-5 (optional).

Three pedals in one unit
As an option for the P-85 the pedal unit LP-5 features three pedals - just like an acoustic piano. Its sustain pedal is capable of half-pedaling, the other two pedals activate sostenuto and piano. The pedal unit LP-5 needs to be attached to the (optional) matching stand L-85.
50 preset piano songs plus sequencer
Play along with or simply relax to the P-85 selection of 50 piano classics. Or learn your favorite piano pieces on the P-85 by recording the left or right hand parts into the built-in sequencer and play the other hand, while your digital piano accompanies you with the other. The integrated metronome will deliver you the right tempo.

Built-in stereo speaker system
The integrated speaker system makes bulky powered speakers a thing of the past. The P-85 uses highly efficient amplifiers with 6 watts per channel, which makes it ready to go whenever you are.
